I pulled out my alcohol inks the other day and made a lot of background. I always love the vibrancy of these inks. I am frugal where I can be and don't use the expensive Yupo Paper, instead I use the backside of Kirkland's Glossy Photo Paper, it works wonderfully. I am not going to list the exact colors of alcohol inks I used, because I don't want to discourage you from using what you have. It doesn't matter what purple or blue or green you use. The only drawback about creating these backgrounds is that they are so beautiful you don't want to cover them up. I've tried to use them in unique ways.
When I did my background I used a have sheet of 8 1/2 x 11, which means for each background I created I could get two cards. This is the second card using blue and green alcohol ink and the gilded Mixative.
For this card I cut down the back using a stitched scalloped rectangle die. I cut the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Gold Pearl Mirror Cardstock, which has more of a matte finish. I cut it again from a blue cardstock and adhered the two together, slightly offset, with liquid glue. I then cut the sentiment from blue stick back foam and adhered then together by removing the cover paper. The sentiment was adhered in the upper center of the card. The panel was then adhered to a top folding cardbase with dotliner adhesive.
I thought I was all done, but at the last minute I decided to a secondary sentiment. It was stamped underneath the die cut sentiment with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Champagne Embossing Powder. Make sure your gun is really hot and you barely run it across the background because it can easily melt the paper.
