In my previous cards I talked about how I created some balloon stencils using Kirkland Glossy Photo Paper. However, when you do this you have the leftover positive die cuts. This photo paper works really well with alcohol inks when you use the backside. When I was created my stencils I made sure that the balloons were die cut with the backside of the paper up. This way I could use these to create another card.
For this card I pulled out my Ranger Alcohol Inks in Aqua, Aquamarine, Turquoise, and Gold Mixative. I have 91% Isopropyl Alcohol in my craft room. I use it all the time for cleaning adhesive from surfaces and my scissors, but it also works well as a blending medium for alcohol inks. I have put a little into a small bottle with a thin nozzle. I liberally put the alcohol on the die cut balloons and then added the alcohol inks. I use to use a straw to move the inks around, but I didn't like inhaling the fumes from the inks so awhile ago I purchased the Ranger Alcohol Ink Blower. This works really well to move the ink around and get that beautiful marbled look. When I was happy with the blend I put the balloons aside to dry.
These balloons are smaller than the previous card I made so I decided to use a smaller panel of white cardstock that was cut down with a stitched rectangle die and embossed with the Stampin' Up Absolutely Argyle 3D Embossing Folder. It was adhered to a top folding cardbase dotliner adhesive.
Gold metallic thread was added to the bottom of the balloons for strings. The excess was adhered to the back with Scotch Tape. I decided to adhered these balloons using craft foam. One layer for the back two balloons and two layers for the front balloon, except where it overlapped the others, which only has one layer. They were adhered in place with liquid glue. When you have a rough embossed surface I always lay a couple of stamping block on top to help the glue adhere.
The sentiment is another Penny Black Birthday die. I cut it from gold mirror cardstock and black sticky back foam and adhered in place with liquid glue.
