Broken Things to Mend

Every two weeks I send out an encouragement message to friends of mine who have lost their spouses or are going through hard times. I search out a talk given by a general authority from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and use that talk for the theme of my message. I talk about my thoughts on the talk. In my message this time I said:

The message of this talk is that we all, as we journey through this life, have broken things that need mending.  The loss of a loved one, a wandering child, thoughtless and cruel acts or words by others, loss of health, loss of a job, something we have done that weighs heavy on our heart, so many ways that wound us and leave us broken.  All these things can be mended by our Savior’s love, all that is required of us is that we come to Him with full purpose of heart.  Elder Holland says; "My beloved friends, I know of no other way for us to succeed or to be safe amid life’s many pitfalls and problems.  I know of no other way for us to carry our burdens or find what Jacob in the Book of Mormon called “that happiness which is prepared for the saints."

Every day I am grateful for the Savior's love and redeeming power, that He can help me mend my broken things.
