We have a friend at church who had her torn achilles tendon repair a couple of months ago. It wasn't healing well and they discovered that she had a severe infection in the wound. They had to perform another surgery to clean out the incision and then striate her skin so that they could pull it closed. She has to be completely off her feet for several weeks.
We wanted to visit her and give her a pretty flower bouquet, along with a get well card. I thought this cute little image of a sloth with a bandaged leg would bring her a smile.
I stamped the image with a brown memento ink because I planned to color it with Copic Markers. When the coloring was complete the image was fussy cut out with scissors and foam squares were added to the back.
Since the little sloth is handing on a branch of a tree I thought it would be fun to use the Altenew Leaf Frame Die as a background. It was cut from Gina K. Designs Fresh Asparagus ink. For the background behind the background a edges of a panel of light blue cardstock was ink blended from some dimension to the sky behind the leaves. The leaf background was cut again from a heavy weight white cardstock. They two were adhered together with liquid glue and then glued to the light blue panel.
I decided to use the little rectangle of green leftover from the leaf background die as a grounding place for the sloth. I didn't like the stark white edges to the die against the dark green, so I found a Copic Marker that closely matched the green of the cardstock and colored the edges.
I stamped the sentiment onto the green panel with VersaMark inks and heat embossed it with cream embossing powder, but it was crooked. So I stamped it again on a scrap of the green cardstock and then cut it out with a sentiment label die and adhered it over the crooked sentiment with foam tape.
