I love going back and pulling out a lovely die that I haven't used for awhile and creating another beautiful card. When I went to file away my Simon Says Stamp Dream Daisy Layers Dies I saw this Detailed Rose Die from Simon Says Stamp and decided to create a card.
I cut the rose from some Gina K. Designs three times from Cherry Red to use for the outline and once from Red Velvet Cardstock for the petals. The flower outline was adhered together with liquid glue. The petals were ink blended on the edges with Altenew Crimson Ink and inlaid into the outline.
I originally thought the Cherry Red would have enough of a difference in color that it could be the outline layer of the flower, but it just didn't have enough contrast. I used the darker Grapevine ink and still it just wasn't right. I tried darkening it with Copic Markers, but it wasn't right either. So, I did what all cardmakers do, I set it aside for awhile and went to work on another card.
This time I decided to use the three layers of petals leftover from the previous card and adhere them together with liquid glue. The center of each petal was shaded with Copic Markers.
This time I decided to use gold mirror cardstock for the outline and loved the way it looked. To adhered the petals and outline together a base of red cardstock was cut by tracing around the flower outline and fussy cutting it out. The outline was adhered in place with liquid glue and all the petals were then glued in place.
The leaves were cut from green cardstock, shaded with Copic Markers and the outline was also cut from gold mirror cardstock.
For this card a frame was cut from white cardstock using the Little B Frames die. A sentiment word was cut from gold mirror cardstock. The rose, leaves, and sentiment were placed on the frame to determine where to stamp the secondary greeting, which was stamped with red ink. Then all the elements were adhered in place with liquid glue.
To add visual interest to the card, the front of an A2 cardbase was embossed using the Altenew Dotted Swirls Debossing Plate and the focal image panel was adhered in place.
The gold outline on this card was so pretty that I decided to try it on the card I had set aside. It immediately gave a finished look to the flower. For this card, the leftover gold pieces on the leaves were popped in place on a green outline.
I decided to make this a landscape card. A rectangle of white cardstock was cut using the Memory Box Matinee Rectangle. I love the corners on this die. The flowers and leaves were laid in place to determine where to stamp the sentiment with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed gold. The flower and leaves were then adhered in place with liquid glue.
The front of a side folding cardbase was dry embossed with the Stampin' Up Absolutely Argyle 3D Embossing Folder and the focal image panel was adhered in place with liquid glue.
Two beautiful cards from the using different elements of cutting the images three different times.
