Tuesday morning we found out a dear friend had finally succumbed to the cancer that had been ravaging his body for the past several months. He and his wife were dear friends. I immediately starting creating a sympathy card.
I stamped this lovely image from Gina K. Designs on an angle, because I wanted to do some partial die cutting on the edge and add some pretty foiled strips underneath. Once the coloring was complete the image was cut using the coordinating die. It was then laid on a a side folding cardbase and the die was placed where it was needed and the edge of the card front was die cut. A strip of gold hot foiled stripped paper was adhered in place using double sided tape and a little liquid glue.
The die was used to cut some sticky back foam, which was added to the back of the flower bouquet, which was adhered in place on the card front with liquid glue.
I had this beautiful hot foil "celebrate" sentiment sitting on my desk for a wedding card I needed to create. As I contemplated life eternal and the wonderful man who has just passed into the loving arms of his Savior and the life he lived I decided to make a very different sympathy card. When you know the plan of salvation death brings sorrow but we can celebrate the joy and peace that comes from knowing we will see them again. We can celebrate a life well lived.
There is a beautiful quote from President Gordon B. Hinckley. He said, "The only way to take sorrow out of death is to take love out of life." We sorrow because we love, but that love is such a blessing. Farewell UDel, until we meet again.
