I send out a lot of birthday cards, approximately 6-10 every week. I was running low on feminine birthday cards. My favorite cards are made with layering flower dies. I pulled out the Altenew Peony Dream die set to create a card.
I had recently make a bag to put a set of cards I had made to auction at our youth activity the end of the month. I had a lot of strips of white paper leftover and used them to die cut the layers of the flowers. I like starting with white because you can get a lot of different depth of colors by using a trio of inks from Simon Says Stamp. This card uses the purple inks, along with green inks for the leaves.
The layers were adhered together with liquid glue. For this card the flower centers were cut from gold mirror cardstock.
A panel of white cardstock was cut down using a scalloped rectangle die and then embossed to add texture. The two flowers were laid in place to determine where to place the leaves. I decided to use a leafy branch as well.
The sentiment was cut from gold mirror cardstock nd adhered at the bottom of the panel with liquid glue. This isn't my favorite birthday die cut. It comes in three different pieces and if you aren't using the shadow it can be fiddly to get the placement right.
A scrap of cardstock was ink blended with the darkest purple ink. When it was completely dry the secondary sentiment was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed gold. It was cut down with a sentiment lable die and adhered above the die cut word with low loft foam tape..
A the last moment I decided to add three small flowers that were ink blended the darkest purple and scatter them around the peony flowers. I really liked the way this turned out. I pulled out some yellow irridescent bubbles for the centers on the small flowers.P
Foam tape was added to the back of the scalloped retangle which was then adhered to a top folding cardbase.
