Red Lighthouse: You Are My Guiding Light Father’s Day

I had an amazing father and he was truly more guiding light. Even though he is gone, his light continues to brighten my life. For the Father's Day cards for the youth card packets I pulled out the Spellbinders Guiding Light dies.
For the cool tones I created a red lighthouse using a red for the strips and a black for the doors, windows, and roof. The railing and the light housing were created from silver mirror cardstock. The light itself from gold mirror cardstock. All the edges of the die cuts were ink blended to give a rounded look. Everything was adhered in place with liquid glue and foam tape was added to the back of the lighthouse.
To create the scene a dark and light grey cardstock was used for the rocks. A light turquoise cardstock was used for the waves, and white was used for the clouds and seagulls.
I decided I wanted to add a woodgrain frame around the scene. It was cut from white cardstock and ink blended with a light grey ink to bring out the grain of the wood. I like the look of this frame, but it cuts so deeply into the cardstock that it doesn't keep its shape, so I cut thin strips of white cardstock to add behind the frame and glued the woodgrain to them with liquid glue. This word good. Foam tape was added to the back of the frame.
I embossed the waves onto a full sheet of turquoise cardstock and ink blended it to bring out the waves. Scissors were used to cut a thinner strip of waves to add over the rocks at the bottom of the card.
The clouds were cut with the border being on an angle and one single cloud to be behind the lighthouse.
A panel of blue cardstock was cut to cover the front of an A2 cardbase and adhered in place with dotliner hadhesive. The elements of the card were laid on the blue card front to determine where to stamp the sentiment. The clouds, seagulls, and one rock were adhered in place with liquid glue. The light house was glue to the top of the largest rock and foam tape was added to the back of both. They were adhered in place by removing the backing paper on the foam tape. The water was adhered in place with a combination of liquid glue and foam tape. The wood grain frame was then adhered in place by removing the foam tape on the back and the card was done.
